【摘要】:Thistestmethodcoversanestimationoftheamountofengineoilvolatilizedat371?C(700?F).Thistestmethodcanalsobeusedtoestimatetheamountofoilvolatilizedatanytemperaturebetween126and371?C,ifsodesired.Thistestmethodislimitedtosampleshavinganinitialboilingpoint(IBP)greaterthan126?C(259?F)orthefirstcalibrationpointandtosamplescontaininglubricantbaseoilswithendpointslessthan615?C(1139?F)orthelastn-paraffinsinthecalibrationmixture.Byusingsomeinstrumentsandcolumns,itispossibletoextendtheusefulrangeofthetestmethod.Thistestmethodusestheprinciplesofsimulateddistillationmethodology.Thistestmethodmaybeappliedtobothlubricantoilbasestocksandfinishedlubricantscontainingadditivepackages.Theseadditivepackagesgenerallycontainhighmolecularweight,non-volatilecomponentsthatdonotelutefromthechromatographiccolumnunderthetestconditions.Thecalculationprocedureusedinthistestmethodassumesthatallofthesampleelutesfromthecolumnandisdetectedwithuniformresponse.Thisassumptionisnottrueforsampleswithnonvolatileadditives,andtheresultsmightbebiasedhighrelativetoTestMethodD5480,whichusesaninternalstandardtoaccountfortheunelutedmaterial.Forthisreason,resultsbythistestmethodarereportedasareapercentofoil.ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsareprovidedforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
